The Tennis Coalition promotes San Francisco’s advantage for year-round public tennis by spearheading the renovation of the historic Golden Gate Park Tennis Center and strengthening San Francisco’s tennis community.
WHAT WE DO
We strive to strengthen San Francisco’s community of passionate tennis players by producing a vibrant, "go to" website full of local resources, tips, and news. We also publish an engaging and informative monthly e-newsletter that highlights achievements, opportunities and events.
The Coalition is working to improve San Francisco’s tennis infrastructure by spearheading the effort to restore the Golden Gate Park Tennis Center (GGPTC) to a world-class tennis venue. GGPTC is the only large-scale public tennis facility in the city and is enjoyed by a wide variety of recreational users, including school groups, summer campers, and adult leagues.
A nonprofit, volunteer-based community organization, the Tennis Coalition joins the voices of players, tennis clubs, neighborhood organizations and civic groups in promoting safe, accessible and plentiful courts in San Francisco.
Strength, speed and power — those matter in tennis. But equally important are the elements of sportsmanship, patience, focus, perseverance, and heart. The small lessons learned on the court, no matter what age or stage of the player, translate to life. Tennis serves as a tool for recreation and exercise, building confidence, teaching habits of concentration and grit.
The Tennis Coalition is a proud partner of the United States Tennis Association, SF Recreation & Parks department, and SF Parks Alliance.
