Congratulations to the 2019 inductees to USTA NorCal’s Hall of Fame including two tennis legends well known to the San Francisco tennis community.
Jeff Greenwald, a sports psychologist whose wisdom appears monthly in Courtside, the Tennis Coalition’s newsletter, is a former professional tennis player and author of The Best Tennis of Your Life. In addition to his best-selling book, Jeff has recently produced a popular online video course, which grew from his best-selling audio book. He has worked with thousands of athletes and highly ranked players worldwide and speaks and consults with the USTA. Read a profile on the USTA website.
Mike Skinner is the Executive Director of Youth Tennis Advantage, which helps serve youth in Bay Area inner-city communities through a comprehensive program of tennis and academics. YTA’s free after-school and summer programs for students aged 8 to 18 are held five days a week at the Lloyd B. Scott tennis courts in Hunters Point, John McLaren Park in San Francisco, Bushrod Park in Oakland, and the Hellman Tennis Complex at Cal Berkeley.
Skinner played tennis at Lowell High School and Occidental College. During the 1970s, he was an USPTA Teaching Professional working at the Katherine Delmar Burke School and Club in San Francisco, Paul Daly’s Swim & Racquet Club in Kentfield and several private courts in San Francisco and Napa.
